Westfield Doncaster
The redeveloped Westfied Doncaster was officially opened
on 16 October 2008.
The redevelopment received planning approval in May 2004,
with work on the $600 million project commencing in January
2007.
The transformation has increased total retail space to around
120,000 m2 with approximately 420 stores. New retailers include
David Jones, Big W and Target. Village Cinemas has reopened
with a state-of-the-art multi-screen complex, including gold
class cinemas and VMax screens.
New restaurants and a larger café court give diners
over two levels sweeping views of the skyline towards the
city. The revitalised Westfield Doncaster introduces a new
era in retail sophistication in Australia and is the glittering
centrepiece of commercial and retail activity in the heart
of Doncaster Hill.
Westfield Doncaster offers a selection of leading local and
international designer brands, a new David Jones, refurbished
Myer, Coles and Safeway supermarkets, Target and Big W discount
department stores and state-of-the-art Village
Cinemas.
Car parking has increased from 3,480 spaces to 5,000 spaces.
Officially opened by Premier John Brumby on 16 October 2008,
the Doncaster complex is set to become Westfield's flagship
centre in Victoria, joining premium centres at Bondi Junction
in Sydney, Century City in Los Angeles, the San Francisco
Centre and Westfield London.
