Westfield Doncaster
The redevelopment of Westfield Doncaster received planning
approval in May 2004, with work on the $600 million project
commencing in January 2007.
The transformation will increase total retail space to around
109,000 m2. New retailers will include David Jones, Big W
and Target. Village Cinemas returns with a multi-screen complex.
New restaurants and a larger café court will give diners
over two levels sweeping views of the skyline towards the
city. The revitalised Westfield Doncaster will introduce a
new era in retail sophistication in Australia and be the glittering
centrepiece of commercial and retail activity in the heart
of Doncaster Hill.
Car parking will increase from 3,480 spaces to 4,700 spaces.
Redeveloped sections of the centre will open in three stages.
The first stage opened on 10 April 2008 with a new fresh food
market and the return of Coles and Safeway, among 80 retailers
trading on two levels of the new malls.
Stage 2 opened in June, with the unveiling of the centre's
new food area - The Drum - and its sweeping views towards
the CBD, and Stage 3 in August. The final stage opening will
take place in mid-October 2008.
