Work starts on shared path extension
4 June 2008
Work has commenced on the construction of shared
paths that will link the future civic hub of Doncaster Hill to Westfield
Doncaster.
Footpaths along Council Street and Goodson Street
are being replaced by widened, shared pedestrian and cycling paths. The
project is being jointly funded by Council and the Department of Infrastructure,
which contributed $173,195 through its Local Area Access Program.
Work includes the extension of the award-winning
existing boulevard treatment on the Doncaster Road frontage of Doncaster
Primary school, along the eastern side of Council Street to Goodson Street,
and along the southern side of Goodson Street to Westfield.
The project also involves the development and placement
of signage at key locations to identify the pedestrian and cycling network
and major destination links.
