Westfield takes in view with stage two opening
4 July 2008
Westfield Doncaster last week unveiled the second
stage of it's $600 million revitalisation project, with the food court
- otherwise known as The Drum - capturing some of Doncaster Hill's unique
views like never before.
Around 50 retailers, including 18 new food stores,
opened as part of stage two. The Drum is located on the south-eastern
corner of Westfield Doncaster - overlooking the corner of Doncaster and
Williamsons Roads - and gets its name from its stunning steel and curved
glass structure. The mainly-glass facade of The Drum provides sweeping
views of the CBD and its surrounds.
The new food area seats more than 900 people and
offers varied cuisines served on fine china.
Big W, Target and other specialty retailers are
set to open in early August, with the grand opening set for mid-October.
Centre manager Rachele Godridge said the rebuilt
and reinvented centre remains on track to be completed by mid-October.
