Work set to begin on Community Hub

Works on the multi-million dollar Civic Precinct Community Hub were officially launched last week with a groundbreaking 'Turning of the Sod' event.

Joining Manningham Mayor in the ceremonial sod-turning were Minister for Community Development, Lily D'Ambrosio; Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Innovation, Gavin Jennings; Parlimentary Secretary for Planning, Jenny Mikakos.

The $38 million Community Hub will provide services including child care, maternal and child health, pre-school facilities, welfare services, aged care, a community youth activity space, library, art gallery, café and a community arts facility for the Manningham and broader community. The development will integrate services on one site, creating networks that will increase accessibility to these services for the community.

Construction of the Civic Precinct Community Hub will commence shortly and is anticipated to be completed in 2012.
